Chestnut Hill

Straddling parts of Boston, Brookline, and Newton, Chestnut Hill was developed in the late 1800s as a streetcar suburb and has maintained its upscale, residential character ever since. It’s home to Boston College, which has shaped much of its modern identity. Chestnut Hill features grand single-family homes, elegant Colonials, Tudors, and luxury condos. The area is marked by tree-lined streets, large lots, and meticulously maintained landscaping. It’s quieter than nearby Brookline or Newton but still centrally located. Key attractions include The Street at Chestnut Hill and Chestnut Hill Square shopping centers, along with access to the Hammond Pond Reservation and BC’s Alumni Stadium. Dining options include Oath Pizza, Aquitaine, and Davio’s. The neighborhood attracts affluent professionals, Boston College faculty and students, and families. A fun fact: the Chestnut Hill Reservoir once served as Boston’s main water supply and is now a scenic jogging loop. The Green Line (D branch) services the area, with nearby stations like Chestnut Hill and Reservoir, along with bus routes such as the 60.
