Downtown

Boston’s Downtown area has been the city’s commercial and political heart since its founding in 1630. The neighborhood has evolved from colonial trading posts to a modern business district with skyscrapers, shopping centers, and historic landmarks. The area features a mix of historic brick buildings, glass office towers, and newly developed luxury condos. While traditionally a business hub, more residential options have emerged in recent years. Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market are major attractions, offering food stalls, shopping, and street performers. The Freedom Trail, which passes through the area, connects sites like the Old State House and Boston Common. Downtown is home to professionals, government workers, and some students. A fun fact is that the first public school in America, Boston Latin School, was founded here in 1635. Public transportation is highly accessible, with the Red, Green, Orange, and Blue Lines all converging at Park Street, Government Center, and Downtown Crossing stations.
