Beacon Hill

One of Boston’s oldest neighborhoods, Beacon Hill was established in the early 19th century and has retained much of its historic charm. Originally home to Boston’s elite, including writers and politicians, it remains one of the most exclusive areas in the city. The neighborhood is known for its narrow, gas-lit streets, Federal-style row houses, and cobblestone alleyways. Many buildings feature intricate ironwork and brick facades, giving Beacon Hill a timeless, old-world feel. Charles Street serves as the heart of the neighborhood, lined with boutique shops, cozy cafés, and fine dining options like 75 Chestnut. The Massachusetts State House, with its iconic gold dome, sits atop the hill, while the Boston Common and Public Garden provide green space for residents. Beacon Hill mainly attracts wealthy professionals, retirees, and history enthusiasts. A fun fact about the area is that Acorn Street is considered one of the most photographed streets in the country. Public transportation includes the Red Line at Charles/MGH and nearby Green Line stations at Park Street and Government Center.
