Mission Hill

Originally part of Roxbury, Mission Hill developed into its own distinct neighborhood with a strong student presence and a mix of historic and modern housing. The neighborhood is named after the historic Mission Church, a landmark that has stood since 1876. Mission Hill features a mix of classic brownstones, triple-deckers, and newer apartment buildings. Many historic row houses have been renovated, while modern student housing has been built to accommodate the growing number of college residents. The neighborhood is known for its excellent views of the Boston skyline, particularly from Parker Hill. Popular spots include Milkweed for brunch and The Squealing Pig for drinks. Mission Hill primarily attracts students from nearby colleges such as Northeastern, MCPHS, and Wentworth, as well as young professionals. A fun fact is that some of Boston’s steepest streets are in Mission Hill, including the famous Parker Hill Avenue. Public transportation includes the Green Line (E branch) and buses like the 39, which connects to Back Bay.
